Who are The Darwin Finches?
Right now we're mainly three people going by our finch handles Wallace, Lyell, and Huxley. The names were chosen because they were all contemporaries of Charles Darwin. The name comes from the finches that are found on the Galapagos Islands. One of the things that convinced Darwin that Natural Selection was the mechanism that created the diversity of life on our planet, was the fact that while each island had finches, their beaks were all different shapes. Some were short and stubby, others were long and narrow, some were in between. You get the idea. Credit for the name goes solely to Wallace.
When are you going to finch insert name of idiot here?
We look into every suggestion you guys send to us. Some videos are extremely difficult to parody without seeming cruel. We make a concerted effort to point out the gaping flaws in logic and the lack of reason our subjects exhibit. it tends to work best when they've put at least a minimal amount of time and effort into the garbage that they vomit up. Finching some crackpot who is ranting on YouTube via his webcam comes across a lot more mean spirited than we're comfortable with and it's hard to do without breaking our rules.
You guys have rules? No shit? What are those all about?
No Ad Hominem attacks, we work very hard to make sure that our jokes are either irreverent or about the logic and issues of the video. No making fun of physical characteristics in a mean way and no making fun of minor speech or grammatical errors while speaking. We want to point out the absurdity of these arguments, not the irrelevant details of someone's character. All that being said, we do occasionally bend or break rules for the sake of a joke. It's humor, not science here.
